Briefings
Briefings
Briefings writes you a short summary of your day on a schedule: what you finished, and what is planned for today and tomorrow (module briefings). Each briefing is written as a draft document. Nothing is sent until you read it and approve it.
In the sidebar under Agents → Briefings. A model connection that can write, under AI, writes the text.
What you see
The page has two tabs.
- Schedules: when your briefings are written. Each row shows the schedule's name and instructions, When (hour and minute in UTC), the Cadence, whether it is on or off, and when it Last run.
- Briefings: what was written, newest first: the title (a link to its document), its Status and when it was Written.
A briefing's status is DRAFT (waiting for you), APPROVED (approved, not yet delivered), SENT (delivered) or FAILED (it could not be written; the reason is kept).
Briefings and schedules are your own. Other people's do not appear here.
What a briefing says
A briefing covers your own tasks: the ones you completed today, and the ones planned for or due today and tomorrow, in the projects the schedule names (or every project you can see). "Today" is today in the schedule's timezone. When Domains and Readiness are switched on and you may read them, it adds names about to lapse and project checks that are failing or stale. If nothing was done and nothing is planned, no briefing is written. The schedule's Instructions decide what it pays attention to. A briefing never invents work.
What you can do
Set up a briefing schedule
- Open Schedules and press New schedule.
- Give it a Name (default "Daily briefing").
- Set Hour (UTC) and Minute. The default is 17:00 UTC.
- Choose a Cadence: Daily, or Weekly (written on Mondays, UTC).
- Set Timezone to your own zone, such as
Europe/Berlin, so "today" means your today. - Write Instructions and press Create.
Through an agent you can also choose a weekdays cadence (Monday to Friday), which projects it covers and which model connection writes it.
Write one now
Press Run now on a schedule. Max either writes a draft and says "Written, and waiting for approval", or says there was nothing to write about.
Read, edit and approve a briefing
- Open Briefings and click the title. It opens in Documents, where you can edit it.
- Back on Briefings, press Approve.
- Max turns it into a PDF, sends you a notification, and sends the file to your linked chat if you have one. Download gets the file.
Pause or delete a schedule
Disable stops a schedule without losing it, and Enable starts it again. Delete removes it; briefings it already wrote are kept.
Who can do what
| Permission | Label | Lets you |
|---|---|---|
briefings:read | Read your briefings | Open the page, read your briefings and schedules, and download a briefing's file. |
briefings:write | Schedule and approve briefings | Create, change, run and delete schedules, approve briefings, resend and delete them. |
A briefing is filed as a document, so writing one also needs permission to write documents. A scheduled briefing is written as its reader, with the reader's own permissions.
What happens on its own
| Job | When | What it does |
|---|---|---|
tick | Every minute | Writes a draft for every switched-on schedule set for this hour and minute, if its cadence falls today and it has not run today. A failed run is tried again on the next due day, covering the same period. |
Needs
Tasks, Time, Documents and Projects switched on.
What agents can do
An agent can read your briefings and schedules, write one now, and manage your schedules. Approving a draft stays with you. Through an API key, creating a schedule, or changing its instructions, projects or connection, is refused, because a schedule runs later as you; only its name, time, cadence, zone and on or off can change. Read-only tools run at once; the rest ask first under the default rules.
- Read-only:
briefings.list,briefings.read,briefings.schedules - Change:
briefings.writeNow(spends AI),briefings.createSchedule,briefings.updateSchedule,briefings.deleteSchedule(deletes),briefings.resend(delivers an approved briefing again; a draft is refused),briefings.delete(deletes; its document is kept)
Over MCP the tools are named briefings__list and so on.
