Search
Search
Search asks every installed module at once and shows what each one found. Use it when you know a name but not what kind of thing it is (module search).
In the sidebar under Home → Search.
What you see
One search box fills the page. Under it a line says what can be searched on your deployment, for example "Searches projects, tasks, documents, domains."
Search owns no data. Each module that can be searched registers itself, and Search fans your question out to all of them. Install a module and it becomes searchable; remove it and its results stop appearing. On a full deployment that includes, among others: projects, tasks, documents, outlines, diagrams, pages, knowledge, links, reminders, contacts, conversations, mail, domains, DNS, services, monitors, Coolify apps, integrations, GitHub, Google, shops, invoices, bills, vaults, agents, approvals, automations, connectors, people, kits, readiness, blog, sourcing, MaxPass, MaxVPN and Shield.
Results stay grouped by the module that found them. Each group is a card with a count, and each result shows its title, a short line under it and its kind. Click a result to open it where it lives. Groups are not merged into one ranked list, because two modules do not score their results on the same scale.
If one module cannot answer, its card says so and the other groups still show, with Try again. A module with nothing findable does not appear at all.
What you can do
Find something
- Open Search. The box is already focused.
- Type a word or a name, for example a project key.
- Press Search or Enter.
- Click a result to go to it.
Search returns up to 20 results per group.
Search from anywhere
Press Cmd-K (Ctrl-K on Windows and Linux) to open quick search. Without leaving the page you are on, it shows:
- matching screens, and the tabs inside them, opened straight on the tab;
- On this page: actions the page you are on offers;
- Recently opened: up to six records you opened from search before, shown when the box is empty;
- the top search results from the same sources as the Search page; a task opens the task itself;
- Ask Max: "…", which opens the Chat with what you typed as the question.
To narrow quick search, start with a letter and a space: s shops, t tasks, p projects, d domains, m mail, c contacts, a agents, b blog, r readiness, h help, k knowledge. Start with > to see only actions. A small typo still finds its word, from four letters on.
Who can do what
| Permission | Label | Lets you |
|---|---|---|
search:read | Search across everything installed | Open Search and run searches |
Search never shows you more than you could open yourself. Each module answers as you, so a project you are not on, or a private task of someone else's, is not found. See People, roles and permissions.
What runs on its own
Nothing in this module runs on a schedule.
Needs
Nothing. Each other module you install adds what it can find.
For agents
An agent uses Search when someone names a thing and the agent does not know which module holds it. Both tools only read, so they never need approval.
Read: search.query searches everything installed and returns results grouped by source. It can be narrowed to some sources, and can also return one merged list ordered by each source's own ranking. search.sources lists what can be searched on this deployment.
Over MCP the same tools are named search__query and search__sources. See API keys and MCP access.
