Knowledge (agent memory)

Knowledge (agent memory)

The sidebar shows this module as Knowledge under Agents. It is what agents know without being told each time: your own notes and standing preferences, what agents learned about doing their jobs, knowledge shared with everyone, and searchable copies of projects, tasks and documents (module knowledge).

In the sidebar under Agents → Knowledge. Search by meaning needs an embedding connection under AI; without one, search matches words.

What you see

The page has five tabs.

  • Mine: what you stored, and what you or an agent acting for you remembered. Only you, and agents acting for you, see these. Standing preferences, such as "quote me in EUR", are handed to every agent that acts for you.
  • Agents: each agent's notebook: what it noted about doing its job, with when and in which run. An entry is handed only to the runs of the person it was learned from, until somebody who may edit the agent shares it with everyone. Editors see whom each entry was learned from and can Share with everyone, Keep private, Edit or remove it.
  • Project facts & proposals: what waits for your decision, with a count on the tab.
    • Memories proposed to you: drawn from your conversations once they have been idle for a day, or held because the run that asked to remember them had read outside content. Nothing here reaches an agent until you accept it, and only you can accept or reject it. A memory waiting 14 days is dropped.
    • Facts proposed for your projects: accepted, a fact is handed to every agent working on the project. Current facts are on each project's Brain page.
  • Shared: knowledge for everyone here, found by every agent: policies, conventions, the names of things.
  • What agents can find: figures for what an agent acting for you can find (Matching, Shared, Mine, From my projects, Waiting, Last reindex), and a Search to try a question.

Your style card

Agents also keep a style card for you: how you like answers (language, emoji, format, how much to explain, whether to ask or act). You change it on your About you page or by saying so in a chat. Once a day, around 03:00 your time, an agent reviews the day's chats and may adjust it; each change says why.

How search matches

Search matches the exact words of what is stored, in any language, plus exact codes such as INV-2024-0042. "Quoted phrases", or, and a leading - to leave a word out work. There is no prefix matching. With an embedding model connected, search also matches by meaning, and each result shows Words + meaning, or Words (model down) if the model cannot answer.

What search returns is limited to what you may see.

What happens on its own

What agents can do

An agent can search, remember things for the person it acts for, keep its notebook and manage knowledge documents. Accepting a proposed memory stays with the person: not an agent, not a key. For something a whole project should know, agents use the project brain instead. Read-only tools run at once; the rest ask first under the default rules.

  • Read-only: knowledge.search, knowledge.memories, knowledge.memoryProposals, knowledge.notebook, knowledge.styleCard, knowledge.docs
  • Your own memories: knowledge.remember (in your private memory, or the agent's notebook), knowledge.undo (forget something an agent remembered without asking, and bring back what it replaced), knowledge.forget (deletes)
  • Notebook: knowledge.shareNotebookEntry (share an entry with everyone, or keep it for its person)
  • Documents: knowledge.addDoc, knowledge.updateDoc, knowledge.removeDoc (deletes)
  • knowledge.reindex: rebuild the index now (spends AI)

Over MCP the tools are named knowledge__search and so on.
