Public links and sharing

Public links and sharing

Some MaxSuite pages open for anyone who holds the link, with no sign-in. They show only the one thing shared: no sidebar, no menu. The link itself is the key, so treat it like one. If it escapes, turn it off.

Who may make each link, and how sharing with named people works, is in Sharing and visibility.

Shared things

WhatOpens atMade from
A document/share/documents/<token>Documents
An outline/share/outlines/<token>Outlines
A diagram/share/diagrams/<token>Diagrams
A folder/share/folders/<token>Folders
A documentation page/share/pages/<token>Pages

A shared document or outline also has a reading view: add /read to the end of its link. It shows the text alone, with no comments and no link back into MaxSuite, so your browser's reader mode can take over.

A shared folder lists what is in it. Documents and outlines in it open as links. Anything else is named but needs a sign-in.

Forms: /f/…

/f/<id> is a hosted form from Intake, such as a contact form. Anyone can fill it in without an account. Your sign-in on that browser is not used. Too many sends from one place in an hour are refused for a while.

Booking: /b/…

  • /b/<code> is a booking page. The visitor picks a day and a time, gives their name, email and any questions you asked, and books. They see You are booked, and an invite is emailed to them.
  • /b/m/<token> is the link in the booking email. The visitor can see the booking, move it to another free time, or cancel it. The link works for that one booking until it is moved (a new link is sent), cancelled or over.

See Booking.

Connect a mailbox: /mailbox/…

When you ask your agent in chat to connect a mailbox, it sends you a one-time /mailbox/<token> form. You type the mailbox password there, not in chat. The mail servers MaxSuite found are shown folded away, and are usually right. A wrong password says what the server said and leaves the form open. See Mail.

Answer a password question: /pass/ask/…

When an agent needs a password it does not have, it asks in chat and sends a /pass/ask/<token> link. You must sign in to answer, because the question is for you alone. What you type goes straight into MaxPass, sealed. No agent is shown it; agents can only have it used for you. The page says until when the link works.

Published docs: /d/… and /embed/…

  • /d/<site> is a published documentation site. It opens on its first page. /d/<site>/<page> opens one page.
  • /embed/<site>/<page> is one page with nothing around it, for putting inside another web page.

An embed shows only what the site would show. Make the documentation private and every embed stops showing it. See Publishing.
