Dashboard
Dashboard
The Dashboard is the first screen you see after signing in. It shows how things are across the modules you can use, and what needs a person right now (module dashboard). Every organisation has it.
In the sidebar under Home → Dashboard. It opens at the root address,
https://<your-deployment>/.
What you see
The Dashboard counts nothing itself. Each module publishes its own figures, and the Dashboard asks all of them at once. A module your deployment has not installed, or has switched off, adds nothing. A module whose screens you cannot open adds nothing for you either: you only see figures from modules you could open from the sidebar. Within a module you can open, the figures are for the whole workspace.
From top to bottom:
- A greeting with your name and today's date. Beside it is either "nothing needs you right now" or how many things need attention, and how many of those are wrong now.
- Getting started or Getting set up: a short list of first things to do. See below.
- Quick add: a text box, a menu of things you can add, and Add. The menu lists every module that has a create tool needing only one line of text, such as a task or a project. It only appears when at least one such module is installed and you may use it.
- Tiles: one per module that has figures. Each tile shows the module's headline figure, with any other figures in small print beneath. Click a tile to open that module. A tile showing a dash means the module could not answer right now.
- Needs attention: the items modules say want a person, such as an overdue task or a project below its readiness target. Each line has a coloured dot, a reason and the module's name, and links to the item. Up to 12 are shown, with a count of the rest. With nothing to show, it says "All clear."
- Charts: breakdowns modules publish, such as tasks by status, as bars.
If a module fails to answer, its error is shown above the tiles, and the rest of the Dashboard still loads. Where a load fails, Try again loads it once more.
Getting started and Getting set up
When the Getting started list module is on, the top of the Dashboard shows Getting started: a few first steps chosen from what you have access to. Each step ticks itself when it really happens, wherever you do it: here, on its own page, or by asking your agent. Hide puts a list away for you only, and Home → Getting started brings it back. The list refreshes when you come back to the window.
When that module is off, a new organisation sees Getting set up instead: the few things Max needs before it is useful, such as connecting an AI model, and Put Max on your phone (add it to your home screen). Each item ticks itself when it is really done. An item you are not allowed to do says "An administrator can do this." and has no button. Hide puts the list away for you alone; it stays on Help to bring back. An item that could not be checked says "Could not check this just now." and does not count as done. When every item is done, the card goes.
What you can do
Add something without leaving the Dashboard
- Type a title of at least two characters into Add something….
- Pick what to add from the menu, for example Tasks.
- Optionally attach files: press the paperclip, or paste a screenshot into the line. This is offered only when the thing you picked takes files, such as a task.
- Press Add. The Dashboard says "Added to …" (and how many files went with it) and refreshes its figures.
The item is created by that module's own create tool, with your text as its title, so the module's own rules and permissions apply. Each file is checked before the item is made, so a refused file leaves nothing behind.
Arrange the Dashboard your way
- Press Customize.
- Drag widgets to reorder them, or use the up and down arrows on each one.
- Press Hide on any widget you do not want. Hidden widgets are listed under Hidden, each with a Show button.
- Press Done. Changes save as you go.
Reset puts every widget back, in the order the modules published them. Your layout belongs to you alone: two people in the same workspace each keep their own. A caller that is not a person, such as an API key, sees the default layout and cannot save one.
Act on what needs attention
Click any line under Needs attention to go straight to the item in its own module, and deal with it there.
Who can do what
This module declares no permissions of its own. Anyone signed in can open the Dashboard. Which tiles, charts and attention items you see depends on which modules' screens you may open. Quick add needs the permission of the create tool you pick. See People, roles and permissions.
What runs on its own
Nothing in this module runs on a schedule. The figures are worked out when you open the Dashboard, and kept for up to 30 seconds per person.
Needs
Nothing. The Dashboard is on for every organisation.
For agents
This module offers no agent tools. An agent that wants a similar overview can use the tools of Reports, which read the figures modules publish.
