Getting started list

Getting started list

The getting-started list is your own list of first things to do in MaxSuite, chosen from what you have access to (module onboarding). Nobody else sees it, and nothing on it moves money or changes anybody else's work. Every organisation has it.

In the sidebar under Home → Getting started. The same list also shows at the top of the Dashboard.

What you see

Your steps, grouped into lists:

  • Getting started: steps for your own work.
  • Organisation set-up: what the organisation needs once, such as connecting an AI model. A step you are not allowed to do says "An administrator can do this."
  • Your organisation: for a client organisation, the steps it sees instead.

Each step shows its title and a state in words: To do, Started, Done, Done by your agent, Already done, Skipped or Could not check. "Already done" means it was true before you got to it, such as costs somebody had already logged. New steps are marked New. A list you hid from the Dashboard is marked Hidden from home.

If nobody has given you access to anything yet, the page says so and asks you to ask an administrator.

What you can do

Work through a step

  1. Open the step to read why it matters.
  2. Press Open to go to the screen where it is done.
  3. Do it there. The step ticks itself when the thing really happens: from this list, from that screen, or because an agent did it for you.

You never tick a step by hand, except the few that show Mark done, which cannot check themselves.

Put a step aside

Press Skip on the step. To bring it back, open Home → Getting started and press Bring back.

Hide or show a list on the Dashboard

Press Hide from home screen to take a whole list off your Dashboard. Your progress is kept. Press Show on home screen here to bring it back.

Ask your agent

Ask your agent "what should I do next?". It answers from this list, explains a step, or does one for you. When it does one, it calls that step's own tool as you, so your usual approval rules apply.

Who can do what

PermissionLabelLets you
onboarding:readSee and work through your own getting-started list — everyone holds thisSee your own list, skip and bring back steps, mark the manual ones done, and hide or show lists.

Which steps you see depends on your other permissions. See People, roles and permissions.

What runs on its own

Nothing in this module runs on a schedule. Steps tick themselves as you and your agents work.

Needs

Nothing. It is on for every organisation. When it is switched off, the Dashboard shows the shorter Getting set up card instead.

For agents

Agents work only on the asking person's own list. None of these tools moves money.

Read: onboarding.mySteps (your steps, optionally one list, optionally with finished and skipped ones), onboarding.explain (why a step matters and how to do it)

Change: onboarding.skip, onboarding.unskip (the Undo of skip), onboarding.markDone (only for steps that cannot tick themselves, when you say you did it), onboarding.hide, onboarding.show

These change only your own list. Whether they need approval follows your approval rules for writes. See Agents and approvals.

Over MCP the same tools are named onboarding__mySteps and so on. See API keys and MCP access.
