Getting started
Getting started
This page takes you from the sign-in screen to a working setup: you find your way around, make a first project, give a colleague access and connect an agent. Each step names the module it uses. If your sidebar does not show that module, your MaxSuite does not have it switched on for you (see Workspaces and modules).
MaxSuite also keeps your own list of first steps, chosen from what you have access to, under Home → Getting started. Each step ticks itself when it really happens. Ask your agent "what should I do next?" and it answers from the same list.
- Open your MaxSuite's address. You land on Welcome back.
- Type your username or email address, and your password.
- Press Sign in.
- If two-factor sign-in is on, type the six-digit code from your authenticator app and press Sign in again.
If you were sent a link to choose a password, open it first and set one of at least twelve characters. There is no sign-up form. More in Profile and sign-in.
To sign out, open the account menu (your initials, top right) and choose Sign out.
Find your way around
- The sidebar lists only the modules you can use, grouped into sections. Fold a section by pressing its title. On a phone it opens from the menu button.
- The top bar shows where you are, then search, the notifications bell and your account menu (Account, Appearance, Secrets, Sign out).
- Search: press
⌘K(Mac),Ctrl+K, or/. Type a name and pressEnterto go there. - Shortcuts: press
?to see them.gand then a letter goes to a screen.Shift+Ccreates something new. - Help, at the foot of the sidebar, gathers all of this. See Help and shortcuts.
Read the dashboard
Home → Dashboard is the first screen after signing in.
- Needs attention lists what wants a person: a monitor down, a renewal due, an approval waiting.
- Tiles and charts show figures from each installed module.
- Quick add creates a record from one line of text.
- Customize lets you reorder or hide widgets. The layout is yours alone.
More in Dashboard.
Make a first project
- Go to Projects → Projects and press New project.
- Give it a Name and a short Key (for example
WEB). - Optionally pick a Kind and Stage. These decide which Readiness checklist applies.
- Optionally set a Monthly budget.
- Save.
You need projects:write. You become its manager. More in Projects.
Add a colleague and give them access
- Someone who runs your organisation opens Admin → People → Organisations, then your organisation, and adds the person with their name, username and email. See Organisations.
- The person gets a one-time link to choose their password.
- On Admin → People, give them the roles that carry the permissions they need. Put them in a team if things are shared with that team.
- To let them into a project, add them as a member at viewer, editor or manager level.
- To share one document, outline or folder, share it with them. See Sharing and visibility.
Roles are explained in People, roles and permissions.
Connect an agent
Every agent acts with no more than the permissions of the person behind it.
Use an agent inside MaxSuite
- Go to Agents → Agents and press New agent.
- Give it a Name and a System prompt. Pick a Connection (set up under Agents → AI) or leave the default.
- Talk to it in Home → Chat, or in the chat panel.
More in Agents.
Talk to an agent on Telegram
- Go to Communications → Comms. A bot must already be set up there.
- Take a link code and send it to the bot. An agent then answers in that chat as you. Linking needs
comms:link.
More in Comms.
Connect Claude or another app by signing in
- An administrator turns on outside apps under Connections → Connected apps.
- In the app, add a custom connector with your MaxSuite's address followed by
/api/mcp. - Approve it when MaxSuite asks.
Give a coding agent a narrow API key
- Open Account and find Connect an MCP client or API keys (needs
api-keys:manage). - Name the key, tick only the permissions it needs, tick Read-only if it only reads, and set Expires in days.
- Create it and copy the key now. It is shown once.
Both are explained in API keys and MCP access. What an agent may do without asking you is in Agents and approvals.
Next
- Choose a theme: Appearance and themes.
- Decide how notifications reach you: Notifications inbox.
- Read the Concepts pages once.
